IT TAKES A CITY
I want to see a stronger partnership between the city and the school district to improve educational opportunities. As a world-class city, Oakland deserves a world-class education system.  However, government cannot do it alone.

    Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils (NCPC's)

About Community Policing

Community Policing has been in the City Of Oakland for a couple of years now, and many neighborhoods have active Street or Block Home Alert Groups and Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils (NCPCs).

Alert groups and NCPC's are an important part of Community Policing. Every Community Policing beat has a Community Policing Officer from the Oakland Police assigned to that beat, as well as a Neighborhood Services Coordinator to help with neighborhood issues other than crime.

At an NCPC meeting, the Community Policing Officer and Neighborhood Services Coordinator gather together with the residents of a neighborhood to discuss where problems of crime and grime are and how the Community Policing Officer, Oakland Police, and the City of Oakland can work with the community to resolve those problems.

Get Involved

District 4 has nine Community Policing beats-13Y, 13Z, 21Y, 22X, 22Y, 24Y, 25X, 27X, 28X-many with an NCPC. I encourage you to get involved with sweeping away crime in our communities and revitalizing our City by working with your NCPC, Community Policing Officer, and Neighborhood Services Coordinator.

Are you and your family prepared for the "Big One" or for a fire in your neighborhood?
