When Neighbors Know Each Other,

Neighborhoods Are Safer ....

Dear Neighbor,

Please note the revised and corrected list of Parties below. District 4 leads the city again with now 93 National Night Out Parties tomorrow, Tuesday night!  We expect nearly 400 parties city wide. Please choose one of the locations below and join us in building stronger neighborhoods.  My staff and I will be moving around as quickly as we can, but don't expect to reach all of them this year. Over the weekend we dropped off safety tips and whistles to each host.  City staff from other departments will visit each party in addition to our staff.

Please pass this onto your neighbors and friends.  For information outside of District 4 call 238-3091. Thank you for the wonderful response, hope to see you Tuesday!

Working Together for a Safer Oakland

We'll be dropping off some of these whistles with the Police Emergency number for cell phones printed on them. (Dialing 911 on a cell phone in Oakland puts you through to the regional California Highway Patrol Dispatcher, who then has to reroute your call to Oakland.)  This number 777-3211 should be programmed into your cell phone for a direct line to Oakland emergency dispatchers. Put the whistle on your key chain for emergencies -- to alert neighbors, search and rescue, to attract attention if you need help. We only have a limited number, so please pass them on to adults who can use them.
