Dear MacArthur Boulevard Neighbors & Friends,

Central MacArthur Boulevard is at the cultural and geographic crossroads of Oakland. Beautiful geography, vital neighborhood organizations, diverse cultures,  new housing and investments make this an exciting area. I believe the changing MacArthur Boulevard corridor can be a model urban neighborhood. On November 5th, 2005 a standing room only crowd of 240 neighbors, city staff, and experts joined us at Mills College to discuss and plan the future.

Most gave the speakers and workshops high ratings from our first look at evaluations. Almost everyone enjoyed the energy and love of the neighborhood. The mix of neighbors, staff, developers and experts produced interesting discussions…many participants were surprised to see the renderings of projects now in the planning or development stages. There seemed to be general support for a mix of denser retail and housing projects with high quality public spaces.
